Goatmon is a Mammal Digimon whose Japanese name and design are derived from the Goat (Capra aegagrus hircus) and whose English name is derived from the similar Oryx (Oryx beisa). It is the Armor Digivolved form of Gatomon through the Digi-Egg of Hope. Goatmon is programmed to hold large amounts of data, which helps it protect the secret treasures and ruins of the Digital World. The DigiCode on its gorget read "When Light and Shadow are joined, set us in the eyes of the goat that faces the high sun."
